Welcome to Carneddau Base Camp. By making a booking, accessing the site or staying with us, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions. Please read them carefully before your visit.

Terms & Conditions

1. About Us
 

Carneddau Base Camp is a low-impact, off-grid wild camping and overlanding site located near Bethesda, Gwynedd, North Wales.
 

Throughout these Terms & Conditions, "we", "our" and "us" refer to Carneddau Base Camp, and "you" or "your"refers to the person making the booking and all members of their party.
 

2. Booking Confirmation
 

A booking is only confirmed once:

  • Full payment has been received.

  • You have received a booking confirmation email.
     

We reserve the right to refuse or cancel bookings where necessary.
 

3. Payment
 

Full payment is required at the time of booking.


We do not accept cash payments on arrival.
 

4. Booking Amendments & Cancellations
 

Our Booking & Cancellation Policy forms part of these Terms & Conditions.
 

By making a booking, you acknowledge that you have read and accepted our Booking & Cancellation Policy.
 

5. Site Guidelines
 

By entering Carneddau Base Camp, you agree to follow our published Carneddau Base Camp Guidelines throughout your stay.
 

These Guidelines include (but are not limited to):
 

  • Off-grid and water requirements

  • Livestock and dog safety

  • Leave No Trace principles

  • Fire safety

  • Vehicle access

  • General site conduct
     

Failure to follow the Guidelines may result in you being asked to leave the site without refund where necessary to protect guests, neighbouring landowners, livestock or the environment.
 

6. Access to the Site
 

Guests access and use the site entirely at their own risk.
 

The campsite is located on natural agricultural land with uneven ground, rough tracks and changing weather conditions.
 

It is your responsibility to determine whether your vehicle, equipment and experience are suitable for the conditions.
 

7. Vehicles
 

A 4x4 or higher-clearance vehicle is strongly recommended.
 

All vehicles enter and remain on site at the owner's risk.
 

Carneddau Base Camp accepts no responsibility for vehicle damage, recovery costs or breakdowns resulting from access to or use of the site.
 

Campervans, motorhomes and caravans are not permitted.
 

8. Personal Responsibility
 

Guests are responsible for their own safety and the safety of anyone included within their booking.
 

You are responsible for bringing suitable clothing, equipment, food, drinking water and any medical supplies required for your stay.
 

9. Personal Property
 

All personal belongings, camping equipment and vehicles remain entirely at the owner's risk.
 

Carneddau Base Camp accepts no responsibility for loss, theft or damage to personal possessions.


10. Dogs
 

Dogs are welcome but must remain on a short lead at all times.
 

Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs and ensuring they do not disturb livestock, wildlife or other guests.
 

11. Fires
 

Ground campfires are strictly prohibited.
 

Only self-contained camping stoves or fully raised fire pits may be used, provided they are operated safely and do not damage the ground.
 

12. Behaviour
 

Guests are expected to behave responsibly and respectfully towards:
 

  • Other visitors

  • Neighbouring landowners

  • Livestock

  • Wildlife

  • The natural environment
     

We reserve the right to ask guests to leave the site without refund if their behaviour places others at risk or causes damage to the site.
 

13. Liability
 

Nothing within these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where it cannot legally be excluded under the laws of England and Wales.
 

Subject to the above, Carneddau Base Camp shall not be liable for:
 

  • Personal injury arising from the natural hazards associated with an off-grid campsite.

  • Vehicle damage.

  • Theft or loss of personal belongings.

  • Damage caused by weather, livestock or natural conditions.

  • Indirect or consequential losses.
     

Guests remain responsible for exercising reasonable care throughout their stay.
 

14. Weather & Force Majeure

We may cancel or amend bookings where circumstances beyond our reasonable control make the site unsafe or inaccessible.

This includes, but is not limited to:
 

  • Severe weather

  • Flooding

  • Wildfire

  • Storm damage

  • Government restrictions

  • Emergency access issues
     

Where we cancel your booking, you will be offered either:
 

  • A full refund; or

  • The opportunity to transfer your booking to another available date.
     

15. Privacy
 

Any personal information collected during the booking process will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable UK data protection legislation.
 

16. Governing Law
 

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
